Systems biology focuses on a holistic approach to study complex interactions in a biological system through the combination of numerical models and system-wide observations. Through mathematical modelling, physical and chemical measurements, and use of ‘-omics’ tecnology, we study natural and built environments involving a wide range of organisms and habitats. This includes microorganims in deep-sea hydorthermal systems, coastal kelp populations, and microbial biofilters in recerculating aquaculture systems (RAS).
