Endocrinological Networks

We have developed a mathematical model that describes the time evolution of hormones along the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis and the growth of ovarian follicles throughout consecutive human menstrual cycles.

We have applied this model to study the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of GnRH analogues as well as ovarian hyperstimulation protocols in reproductive endocrinology.

We are currently in the process of coupling the HPG axis model with other hormonal axes to study, e.g., the influence of hormonal contraceptives on the stress response in women.
